Travel Photography and Futures Trading by Jordan Schleider of NQ Trader
Futures trading requires a great deal of focus and concentration to be effective and profitable in the profession. In order to be a professional futures trader, you will need to find ways to master your emotions and your psyche. The are many choices available to professional traders. Making good choices and following it through is a key difference and a big step up that differentiated professionals from amateurs.
As founder and head trader at NQ Trader, Jordan Schleider practices many different methods to help him focus and align his futures trading skills and deal with his emotions. Some of those methods include taking part in sporting activities, specifically daily bicycling, running, working out and swimming. Even though these sporting activities alone would seem almost excessive to some, this is only a small portion of Jordan’s overall off daily time regime.
One of Jordan Schleider’s favorite past times when he is not working out, trading futures or teaching futures trading at NQ Trader is traveling. Jordan has traveled the globe many times over. His travels are strictly for pleasure and have taken him to many different countries in almost all the seven continents.
While Jordan travels, he focuses on the hobbies he enjoys outside of sporting activities. One of Jordan Schleider’s favorite past times is travel photography. Jordan Has been honing his photography skills for many years and he spends long hours of his free time cataloging and processing his many photographic works he has collected all over the world. Many of his best pieces are framed at the NQ Trader office in Boca Raton Florida and on display for all to see.
One of the biggest parts of photography is choosing the correct tools for the job. Jordan uses Nikon cameras and lens exclusively in his travels while capturing his photographs. When Jordan returns from a travel adventures he uses a RAID 5 network attached storage (NAS) device with eight terabytes of space to store his extensive photograph library. Jordan’s archive and library software of choice is Adobe Lightroom. Jordan prefers Adobe Photoshop for any extensive photo processing work that is needed down the road. These are his tools of the trade.
The art of photography takes much more than a skillful eye. Good photographers have to be able to capture the photographs and manage the entire processing task from storage to touchups and printing to framing. The time needed to create real high quality framed photographs can be extensive and that is what makes travel photography a great hobby for futures traders and is Jordan Schleider’s number one past time. It gives Jordan an endless task list with which to pull from when he needs to unwind from his time trading.
Working as head trader at NQ Trader allows for a fairly flexible schedule and Jordan will take advantage of his free time by blocking out sections of time to allow for his favorite hobbies. Keeping this regimented schedules makes Jordan more effective during the times he chooses to trade. One thing Jordan Schleider and many other professional traders find is that they always need time away from trading and in doing so gives them the chance to clear their minds of the hyper focusing and micro managing of the trades that are required to be a skilled futures trader.
Being able to properly structure your time and remove yourself from the trading environment entirely during free time can be a very difficult task for many beginning traders. Learning these few simple steps of creating your own hobby will greatly improve your trading skills. It is always important for prospective traders to understand the importance of managing their time properly and learning to deal with the stress and emotional problems involved in becoming a professional futures trader.
